This set is brilliant, contains everything you need, and excellent value
This kit really attracted me but was disappointed. Quilling tool is a bit of plastic with two small protrusions that you start the paper strip winding on. They are not close enough together to hold edge of paper firmly. As a complete beginner I didn’t know if I had to make the quill by holding it in place at the two points of the tool or wrap it round the handle of the tool. The instructions have no explanation in that or step by step diagrams to show how it should look as the quilled shale is being formed on the tool. The instructions are dense written text which are not easy to follow without diagrams explaining the steps. It gets even more complicated as the give lengths to use and form quills but again no step by step diagrams. Tho there are images on the last page of the quill shapes you can make. So it takes a lot of experimenting to begin to get the shapes in the pictures on the box cover. Again as a beginner a booklet that shows images step by step how one design is made ( using a range of shapes or different lengths ) would be helpful. The single images inside of lengths on the designs are not sufficient or easy to follow. The difference in the wider paper strips and the smaller ones didn’t seem that much and certainly, on the cat design the wider strips I used did not yield the fat shapes of the cat shown on the box picture so the whole thing looked much smaller. It’s ok as a starter to practise but that’s about it.
I bought kits for my grandchildren during lockdown as something slightly different to create. One loved it and was away creating all sorts of things while the other thought it was just too fiddly to even begin! Maybe she’ll come back to the kit when she’s older!?
Bought for a friend she loved it.
