The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) is a section from a painting. The original measures 180 x 180 cm and was painted from 1907 to 1908. This masterpiece is one of the most important paintings of Jugendstil (Art Nouveau), a genre dating from the turn of the century, which was decisively influenced by Klimt. In the painting, young lovers, intimately entwined, are depicted. The woman’s head is bent backwards and, with her eyes closed, her right arm lays seductively on his shoulder.
