The green clock face is printed onto thick (1cm approximately) wood which makes it sturdy enough for younger children to enjoy, but has enough information so it will help your child as they grow and want to learn more complex aspects of telling the time.
The outer ring is marked in 'minutes' and each five minute section is marked with a yellow line (5 - 10 - 15…55 - 60), the 'quarter' hours are marked with a red line . Outside the ring are small circles showing quarter, half, three quarters and four quarters. The next ring has bold, black numbers - like a real clock-face - and to the left are small pictures of a clock with the hands pointing to the o'clock. So by 2 the picture shows 2 o'clock on a clock face. The final circle in the middle of the clock shows 13 beside the one o'clock so that you can explain to older children about the 24 hour clock.
The wooden hands are red and the 'big hand' and 'small hand' are significantly different in size for your child to understand the concept of 'when the big hand is on the 4 and the little hand is on the 12 it is 4 o'clock'. The hands can be moved independently to show any 'time' required.
