Traditional Marbling 19th August AM

In groups of two or three the children will learn about the traditional marbling. Pébéo's Marbling colours are used according to a technique inspired by Japanese marbling on rice paper in the eleventh century (Sumi nagashi), and then in Europe by nineteenth century bookbinders.

It is the process of transferring colours by simple contact with the object to decorate, on a coloured surface. This technique requires patience and attention, as well as a little practice. It can be used in creations on all light surfaces: fabric, paper, card, recycled paper, wood, plaster, etc. On fabric, fix the colours to the iron after drying.

Please bring in any item that is porous and we will try to marble it.

Parents don't need to stay 7+

Mono Printing 27th August AM

Monoprinting is the simplest way of starting and learning the principles. Essentially its is just another way of painting or drawing. They can produce as many as ten or more individual works. The working process of monoprinting is spontaneous and the results are refreshing and inspiring. The nature of the process lends itself to experiment and exploration which in turn can then inform your painting and drawing practice. The children can bring in there own drawing that they want to create a print from!

Parents don't need to stay 4+
