Day 21: Being a Christmas Baby!

Now my family have always been good at separating Christmas from my birthday so I have very few complaints.           My Mum and Dad put up their decorations on the 12th of December and remove them 12 days after. My mum always makes a special effort by having Christmas just in one room and she decorated another up as my birthday. Thanks mum! Dana would have decorated her house at the beginning of December, as she loves Christmas so much. But for me, it... Read More

On the Second Day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. Two turtle Doves & some Spectrum Noir Sparkle

I like glitter but it has a time and place and although Christmas is definitely it. I didn’t think I would love them as much as I do. Brush pens to me have to be smooth and easy to use with a good bristle, so I couldn’t see how it was going to be glittery.       I quickly drew out a sketch of two turtle doves who happen to be in perfect colours for the Spectrum Noir glitter brush pens.   I sketched them... Experimenting with Pebeo

I love mixed media, it is a discipline of a different sort and when using Pebeo Fantasy paint’s, you literally have no control of how the colours and textures develop. I experimented with different solvent based paints like the Vitrail, Prisme and Moon. This way of creating art is all about letting loose and pure experimentation.       I began playing with resins, Crystal Resin (my personal favourite) with it’s glass like quality and Glazing Resin which makes your work look like it is enamelled or contains items in...   One of my highlights of the year is Fair season and Toy Fair in January kicks it off.   The last week in January myself and Jay went to Olympia to see some new products and to get a bit of an idea of the what is going to be hot and what is not in the Toy and Children’s craft section.   But as I walked through the doors of Toy Fair a smiled appeared on my face.   You see the products that I would see today... Crafty Arts Summer Fun Day Highlights in Romford

Even though our Summer Fun day was a few weeks ago it was a lovely distant memory. As the marquee was being set up and the tables being put out, we were willing the sun to come out and the clouds to go away. The demonstrators and stall owners began to set up and the sun began to move over Romford. We had demonstrators from Our very own knit and natter ladies (which also includes Crochet with Maggie), Christine from Crafters Companion, Emma from Fimo, Dobby from Snazaroo and Caroline... Make your Own: Pink Baby Buntings

Baby showers and hen parties are becoming more and more expensive to host, with balloons over £1 each and packs of glitter at £3 a bag I feel very unsatisfied with the choices I am given. So for a while now I have been making my own bunting. Now you can buy truly beautiful fabric bunting and making it isn’t that tricky as a pair of pinking shears makes light work of hemming seams but I feel time wise you are restricted to shape. So when one of my friends... Read More

The Benefits of Being Creative

Recently I keep seeing articles of the benefits of taking up a craft, so I decided to look into this a bit further.     It’s funny, when you generally think about the word “creative”, what comes to mind is Art & Crafts. So it was interesting watching the video on the CNN link as it looks at  different types of ways you can be creative ie Building Gadgets. Opening creativity to everyone!   A shocking statistic that I found in the Daily Mail stated that being a creative person... Read More
