An update on our Marathon Training
So we don’t have long to go now till our Half Marathon starts so we thought you would like to hear a little update from us.
Couch to 5k has bumped us up to 5-10 so we are on our way. We have also have been working on our fitness at our local Nuffield gym so it has been a lot of 6am starts so it gets us in for work.
We are really going to have to push ourselves if want to be running 21k. Upping our training to five days a week is going to be tricky, with an average weekly mileage of 30 miles, so its a big commitment. We are trying to put our rest days in between but it’s hard with only 7 days in a week. Long runs are also something we need to focus on. I have already planned a route from work to my Mother in Laws house. We will be taking advantage of the Park runs and see if we can beat our time.
This is such a challenge for us.
“I wish I hadn’t made up so many excuses not to train but I am going to put my head down and start putting in the effort, it will be great for my mental health, I am a bit of a stress head at the moment” – Dana
Really, we should have just started with a 5k or a 10k but never mind. It all for a good Charity and we need to raise as much money and awareness for Mind. We know the route and we know that as long as we cross the finish line, we will all be happy.
“I’m going to wing it. I can’t run distance at all, I hate aerobic training and haven’t trained for the run at all, but I plan to win. Time will tell…” Jon
I think our excitement has really encouraged us to achieve this, we have all been facing our fitness demons this year which has seen us go to the gym individually and together. we excitedly talk about our fitness and how we have been getting on. What new bit of kit we are using and how our healthier diets are going.
